Voki's

How cool are Voki's!! I had always wondered how people did this, and now I know. There are so many possible uses for these, so here are a few;

• Homework assistant - when doing homework from blogs etc, a Voki could be created to give the directions or a brief outline of the required task.
• Part of lesson presenter - a voki could be used to help present part of a lesson in class.
• Students could be requested to create a voki as part of their assessment.

Please feel free to make more suggestions, I believe there are so many and would love to hear what other people think.

Blogs and Wikis

Just thought I would share a few ideas that I have been pondering on.

How awesome are Blogs and Wikis, these 2 tools could be a major part of a students e-learning journey if used correctly.

My specialisations are English and History, and in my previous experiences they have been a more teacher-centered approach. With the use of Wikis and Blogs I could put up short quizzes, pictures as well as links to relevant video or audio for the particular topic. Furthermore, I could use these tools for homework purposes, such as posting the homework to the blog or wiki. Or base the part of the lesson the homework from the previous night which would have been placed on a blog or wiki.

Just a few ideas, please feel free to add any that you may have.

E-learning in education

I was watching the news the other night, (on the rare occasion due to everyone wanting dinner at this time it would seem) and there was a segment on e-learning. Unfortunately I can not remember the channel but it was reporting on a trial taking place at present with the use of ICT's and e-learning in schools. The trial was only taking place in a few schools, however they were expecting great results and for all schools to be soon using ICTs and e-learning. I was very excited about this as after starting this course I find myself more and more liking the capabilities of technology. They are endless!

WOW!! It is now week 3 and the stuff that I have learnt so far through doing this course is amazing. I have never used a blog before or even accessed one that I know of. Morevoer; I have always been aware of netiquette, but never really followed the term as such (sorry to everone who i have been blunt to without relising it). Furthermore; the idea of a 'contsructivist student expereince' (Aldred, 2010, p. 4 of 5) sounds really exciting as well as a fantastic way to maximise technology to encourage students to learn. Week 2 took us through many other interesting topics such as Learning Engagement theory and learner/teacher centred learning which both brought up some very interesting points. I am a big supporter of learner-centred learning, as the learner is more involved and more likely to stay interested.

Can't wait to futher explore bolgs and wikis now in week 3 and the weeks to come.
